What We Build

Hardscape that’s still
flat in season ten.

Patios, walkways, sitting walls, and fire pits across Newark, Wilmington, and Hockessin. The part that lasts is the part you never see, so that is the part we build right.

Paver patios that outlast the freeze.

Set on six inches of compacted stone, pitched to drain, and finished with polymeric sand and edge restraint, so New Castle County clay can heave all it wants underneath and the surface stays put.

  • Six inches of compacted stone base
  • Drainage pitched in from day one
  • Polymeric joint sand and edge restraint

  • How much does a paver patio cost in Delaware?
It comes down to size, materials, and site prep. A flat, well-drained yard costs less to build on than one that needs grading first, and stone seating walls, fire pits, lighting, and steps add to it. Because base depth and drainage decide how long a patio lasts, the quote comes after we walk the site, not over the phone.
  • Do I need a permit for a paver patio in New Castle County?
Ground-level uncovered patios are generally exempt from a NCC building permit, but adding impervious surface above certain thresholds can trigger a stormwater review, and HOA approval is a separate process you'll likely need. We pull whatever permits the project requires and walk you through the HOA paperwork before we break ground.
  • Why do some paver patios sink or shift after a few years?
Almost always the base, six inches of properly compacted crushed stone is non-negotiable in NCC clay soil. Cheap installs skip base depth, skimp on compaction, ignore drainage, or use the wrong edge restraint. Three Delaware winters of frost heave later, you've got a wavy patio. We don't cut corners under what nobody sees.
  • How long does a paver patio installation take?
A typical 250 to 400 sq ft residential patio runs 5 to 10 working days from excavation to final wash-down, weather permitting. Add retaining walls, fire pits, or extensive grading and the timeline extends. We give you a real schedule before we start and update you if weather pushes us.
  • What's the difference between pavers and stamped concrete?
Pavers are individual units set on a flexible base, they handle Delaware's freeze-thaw cycle by moving slightly without cracking. Stamped concrete is a single rigid slab that cracks where it wants to. Repair on pavers is lifting and re-leveling a few units; repair on concrete is sawcutting and patching. We install both, but most NCC homeowners are happier with pavers long-term.
